I enjoyed the "The Great Works of Software" by Mr. Paul Ford. I do agree that these four programs, really helped push and evolve what code writing is today. Photoshop surprised me; I had know idea it has been around since 1987. Photoshop is still the most dominant photo enhancer program out today. The same can be said about Microsoft Office, Ford states that "Office has been around for 30 years," and by the looks of it, not much has changed. There have been new updates that come out every five years or so, but the basic knowledge of how to use it doesn't vary as much. I am not sure if my favorite website BleacherReport, is in the same category with these original software, but the website has made strides in the sports reporting world. BleacherReport (BR) is a website dedicated to sports, what makes it different then another platform like "ESPN," is it is run more like a social media page. Writers on BR are not always professional writers. They are collected and gathered material, some from huge repot teams like Yahoo News; others can be regular college kids that write extremely well. The website allows you to add your favorite sports teams and personalize it towards the user. Along with articles you receive memes, GIF's, and sometimes twitter responses. It is a collection of everything related to your sports teams from the Internet on one page. This might not seem very life altering in the software world, but it is the first of its kind of sports reporting. Anytime you can beat a company like ESPN at sports news, you have a good idea.
